Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £51,581

Shift Pattern: 2 Days / 2 Nights / 4 Off (12‑hour shifts)

Hours: 42 per week

Overview

We're seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join a well‑established, high‑performing manufacturing site operating on a modern shift pattern. Following recent investment and site development, this role plays a key part in ensuring operational reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement across a range of automated production equipment.

You’ll work as part of a skilled maintenance team, performing a balance of planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance activities – ensuring machinery and systems perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production and packaging machinery.
  • Respond swiftly and effectively to breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
  • Diagnose, integrate, and interrogate electrical faults, working to root cause level.
  • Perform PLC fault finding and support in system troubleshooting and optimisation.
  • Refurbish and maintain electrical elements of machinery to extend asset lifespan.
  • Support continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Work safely and effectively in compliance with all company procedures and standards.
Key Requirements
  • Multi‑skilled background – either electrical or mechanical bias (electrical preferred).
  • Strong electrical understanding including fault finding and control systems.
  • Level 3 NVQ / City & Guilds or equivalent in Engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience within a manufacturing or process‑driven environment.
  • Familiar with 5S, drives, bearings, belts, and breakdown response.
  • A proactive attitude with a focus on quality, safety, and long‑term reliability.
