Job description

We're looking for a proactive Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced food production environment. You'll play a key role in keeping equipment running smoothly, reducing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

What You'll Do
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a range of production machinery (including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and motor-driven systems).
  • Complete scheduled engineering tasks on time and to a high standard.
  • Work with production teams to maintain equipment performance and meet daily output targets.
  • Ensure high-quality maintenance and repair practices are followed.
  • Keep accurate records of all maintenance activities.
  • Monitor and manage spare parts availability for planned work.
  • Support cost-saving and efficiency improvement projects.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with all site safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards.
  • Follow “Clean As You Go” practices at all times.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).

Desirable Qualifications
  • Familiarity with CMMS software.
  • Knowledge of automation, PLCs, and control systems.
Safety & Food Standards
  • Strong awareness of safe working practices and correct PPE use.
  • Willingness to complete Food Safety and HACCP training during probation.
  • Commitment to maintaining all hygiene and food safety requirements.
