Overview

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Banbury. Monday to Friday. 4 week shift rotating, early (6-2), days (8-4), and afternoons (2-10). Sunday to Thursday nights (10-6). Salary £51,000 rising to £58,000 after passing probation. Location: Banbury.

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance engineer based in Banbury to join our fast paced engineering department in our packaging company.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out preventive and reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical and packaging equipment, including conveyors, fillers, wrappers, sealers, and labellers.
  • Diagnose faults and repair breakdowns quickly and safely to minimise production downtime.
  • Support continuous improvement projects focused on equipment reliability, line efficiency, and product quality.
  • Collaborate with production, electrical, and process teams to maintain seamless operations.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records and adhere to all Health & Safety and Quality standards.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, pumps, conveyors, and packaging automation equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and engineering drawings.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach with excellent attention to detail and safety awareness.
Candidate
  • Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering (HNC, NVQ, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a maintenance or engineering role within a packaging, manufacturing, or FMCG environment.
