Qualifications

  • Appropriate technical qualification in electrical engineering required.
  • Must have knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations and experience in maintenance.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and perform installations.

Job description

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on‑site Maintenance Electrician in HMYOI Brinsford. The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, 08:00 – 17:00 with an hour earlier finish every Friday. There is a need to work 1 in 4 weekends, but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15 % of basic salary). By using our facilities‑management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly. The Electrician plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the courts is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.

What You Will Do
  • Ensure Health & Safety standards are met across the contract
  • Test and inspect electrical installations in line with current IEE wiring regulations
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently
  • Perform planned and preventative electrical maintenance and diagnose/replace failed domestic electrical components
  • Actively fault‑find and problem‑solve on domestic electrical systems
  • Undertake electrical installation activities according to provided designs and IET Wiring Regulations
  • Monitor and order critical spares for all electrical services, and oversee the BMS System
  • Support zero‑carbon initiatives, contributing to sustainability goals, and handle additional tasks as directed by your line manager
Qualifications
  • Appropriate technical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 2365 parts 1‑3, BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or above)
  • BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition
  • Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations
  • Experience of electrical maintenance activities, general distribution, installation, and testing
  • Ability to work alone and use initiative
  • Capable of working at heights
