A leading facilities management company is seeking a permanent Electrician for their Ministry of Justice account in Redditch. This role involves planned and reactive maintenance within prison facilities, requiring 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification. Candidates should have experience in electrical maintenance and be capable of working at heights. The position demands adherence to health and safety protocols, with various responsibilities from maintenance to supporting security clearance processes. The standard work week is 39 hours, with potential weekend duties.
Your New Role is a permanent Electrician position in the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account at HMP Hewell, B97 6QQ. This role is based on site.
There may be a need to work some weekends, but this would be on a rota basis with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary.
At Amey, we support our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing safe, clean and efficient prisons. Using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
The Electrician plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.
Standard hours of work are 39 hours per week (across 7 days where a weekend shift pattern is in place).
What makes this role unique is that you will test and inspect electrical installations across prison facilities in accordance with the 18th IEE wiring regulations as amended from time to time. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
Ideally you will be qualified in 18th Edition (however if you currently only have 17th Edition, we will sponsor you to upgrade to the 18th Edition; terms and conditions apply) with experience in electrical maintenance within a commercial environment.
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have IT skills and experience in fire alarm systems and CCTV systems to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
