Position

Maintenance Craftsman (Mechanical) – Estates Department, University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

Estates provides comprehensive maintenance, repair and installation services for buildings, grounds, engineering services and associated equipment throughout the Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance, repair and installation of buildings, grounds, engineering services and associated equipment.
  • Work Monday – Friday with participation in an emergency on‑call rota, with opportunities for overtime and weekend working.
Qualifications
  • Recognised mechanical or building services apprenticeship.
  • Experience in building engineering services and plant maintenance (e.g., BTEC HNC level, City and Guilds).
  • Relevant post‑apprenticeship training or equivalent experience.
  • Current UK manual driving licence.
  • Residence within a half‑hour normal travel time to facilitate on‑call duties.

Pay & Conditions

Salary: £31,049 – £37,796 per annum (Band 5) plus local RRP (£3,277 pa) and approx £1,000 on‑call retainer. Shift‑working position with enhancements payable in line with Agenda for Change, estimated to add around £5,000–£6,000 per annum to total earnings.

Base Location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
