We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen for a Fleet Maintenance Controller to join our growing Operations Team here at Holman UK. The role is based in our Birmingham office near the NEC so please bear this in mind when applying. This is a permanent opportunity and the salary is circa 36000.00 per year, dependent on qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities will include :
  • Ensure costs are managed effectively, vehicle availability is maximised and customers are provided with exceptional service. This primarily involves :
  • Managing authorisation requests promptly and efficiently; validating that work is necessary and that correct pricing and labour times are applied; challenging vendors appropriately and ensuring highly accurate input of all appropriate information into Holman systems to the extent determined by the business.
  • Controlling downtime effectively; conducting quality work progression activity and updating systems clearly and accurately.
  • Engaging with customers appropriately in relation to authorisation activities, determining the most cost‑effective solutions and ensuring customers are updated appropriately on work progress.
Education and / or Training :
  • Technical vehicle‑related qualifications such as City & Guilds or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable detailed knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics, preferably extending to include HGV and ancillary equipment fitted to vehicles.
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft applications – primarily Outlook and Excel.
  • Qualifications or good knowledge around vehicle compliance requirements and full appreciation of the necessity of vehicles and equipment being compliant.
Relevant Work Experience :
  • Experience in a workshop environment or similar.
  • Experience working within a team in an office environment.
  • Adept at computer use and familiar with Microsoft applications.

  • (Ranges from task‑focused to integrating related functions to broadly strategic integration)
  • Demonstrable analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to multi‑task with consistency and accuracy.
  • Highly organised, able to manage a variety of work‑streams effectively.

  • Strong administration skills with an ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.

  • Committed to finding solutions with an ability to use initiative and common sense.
Communicating & Influencing Skills :
  • Able to communicate effectively, build and maintain a rapport with people at all levels.
  • Ability to manage difficult conversations effectively and hold conversations at a technical level.
  • Ability to listen and have confidence to question if the understanding of requirements is not absolutely clear.
  • Ability to interpret information speedily and accurately and take appropriate actions.
  • Be able to convey information concisely to appropriate personnel.
