Job description

We are seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our small friendly team based in Biblins Youth Campsite. You'll join us on a part time, seasonal flexible hours, equivalent to 14hrs per week, and, in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £23,013 to £24,226 pro rata.

About the role

Working in a stunning location nestled in the Wye Valley, you'll help ensure the site is safe, welcoming and well-maintained for the thousands of children and young people who visit each year. Biblins Youth Campsite provides camping, residential accommodation and adventurous activities for youth groups, schools and families.

Benefits include:

  • Work in a truly beautiful setting
  • Be part of a small, passionate team
  • Help create positive experiences for young people
  • Develop practical and outdoor site skills
  • Flexible working patterns available, Real Living Wage employer

The Maintenance Assistant role:

This is a practical, active role—you will find yourself outdoors in all weathers, fixing things and making sure everything runs smoothly. This is a varied and physical role where no two days are the same—one day you might be erecting bell tents or mending a broken fence, the next day you might be fixing a hinge on a door or replacing a washer to stop a tap dripping!

As our Maintenance Assistant your responsibilities will include:

  • Help with day-to-day site maintenance and upkeep e.g. bathrooms, fencing, painting
  • Carrying out regular monitoring checks to ensure safety and cleanliness
  • Ensure facilities are clean, safe and ready for use
  • Helping to manage waste, recycling and general tidiness around the site
  • Respond to any on-site issues quickly and calmly
  • Work closely with the Centre Manager and volunteers

What we are looking for in our Maintenance Assistant:

  • A proactive, reliable attitude with an understanding of safe working practices and relevant H&S regulations
  • Experience with basic maintenance tasks (e.g. DIY, groundskeeping)
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • A flexible approach to working hours, willing to work extra hours in the summer and fewer in the winter
  • A friendly, supportive presence for visiting groups
