Job summary

Hamberley Care Management Limited is seeking a Maintenance Assistant for Newton House, a luxury care home providing residential, dementia and nursing care. You will join a maintenance team reporting to the Maintenance Officer.

You’ll perform repairs, safety checks and light refurbishments to keep the home in excellent condition for residents and staff, while upholding Health & Safety standards and contributing to a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in maintenance and repair work.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Health and safety awareness demonstrated in discussion.
• Flexible team player with a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Keep home and grounds in good repair and ensure access for residents.
• Comply with Health and Safety legislation and report incidents.
• Carry out day-to-day repairs and refurbishment to maintain standards.
• Engage with staff, relatives, families and residents regularly.
• Ensure regular safety checks and servicing on equipment with records.
• Communicate effectively with Home Manager and residents.

Reporting to the Maintenance Officer, the maintenance team makes sure that we have a clean and well-maintained environment so that residents feel at home and staff can do their jobs well.

What you'll be doing

• Ensure the home and grounds are kept in a good state of repair and residents have access to all appropriate areas
• Compliance with Health and Safety legislation throughout the home, including reporting of H&S incidents
• Carry out day to day repairs and some refurbishment activity to maintain standards in the care home
• Actively engage with staff, relatives and families as part of the care home team and regularly engage with residents
• Ensuring that regular safety checks and servicing is carried out on all equipment and accurate records are kept.
• Having excellent communication with the Home Manager and also the Residents
