Job summary

Uniserve is seeking a Maintenance Operative to join our Felixstowe team. You will perform day-to-day maintenance, repairs and inspections to keep facilities safe, functional and compliant.

Working under the Maintenance Operative Supervisor, you will support planned and reactive maintenance, help prevent equipment failures and maintain a safe site environment for all staff and visitors. Prior hands-on experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience in facilities or warehouse.
• Able to drive.
• Hands-on maintenance skills.
• Basic plumbing, electrical and building fabric repairs.
• Good health and safety awareness.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks to a good standard.
• Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
• Reliable, hardworking and team oriented.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across buildings, plant, and equipment.
• Undertake basic repairs including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fabric tasks.
• Perform routine inspections and report defects, hazards, or potential failures to the Maintenance Operative Supervisor.
• Follow work instructions and maintenance schedules set by the Supervisor.
• Assist with preventative maintenance activities to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
• Support external contractors on site by providing access and ensuring safe working practices.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work, inspections, and materials used.
• Use tools, equipment, and materials safely and correctly.
• Keep work areas clean, safe, and tidy at all times.
• Respond to maintenance call-outs in a timely and professional manner.

Working under the direction of the Maintenance Operative Supervisor, the role supports the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, contributes to the prevention of equipment failure, and helps maintain a safe working environment for all site users.

• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks to a good standard
• Good problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills
• Reliable, hardworking, and able to work well within a team
