The Role

Mainframe Architects serve as the technical bridge between Kyndryl and our clients, providing leadership that unites stakeholders — from clients and governance teams to project executives and external vendors. They ensure project delivery on time and within budget, from inception to completion.

As a Mainframe Architect, you will leverage your expertise to lead technical solutions, collaborate with clients to understand their needs, and design tailored solutions aligned with client goals. You will guide the implementation, ensuring high standards are met throughout the project.

Required Skills and Experience

• 15+ years of experience
• Deep expertise in mainframe database technologies such as IBM DB2TM, IBM IMS Database, Cincom Supra, Software AG Adabas, Broadcom Datacom
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Knowledge of database performance, capacity management, tuning, and high availability
• Ability to articulate the value of database modernization and utilize latest features
• Proficiency with core mainframe subsystems and query languages including z/OS, JCL, JES, RACF/ACF2, CICS, COBOL, PL/1, SQL, Natural

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of IT concepts, practices, and procedures across enterprises
• Experience with technical planning, blueprints, and models
• Strong logic and reasoning skills
• Advanced certifications in relevant technologies
• Experience modernizing databases, including hybrid cloud integration
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Kanban, SAFe, Scrum)
• Understanding of cloud providers
