Macmillan Junior Uro/Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist

- The CNS will work effectively as an autonomous practitioner and as a core member of the multidisciplinary team within the Urology/Oncology service to provide the highest possible standards of care for patients with urological cancer.
- Provide excellent nursing care, utilising skills and competencies for patients with Urological cancer.
- Ensuring that the Uro/Oncology patients and their families are fully informed and supported by performing holistic needs assessments.
- To support the metastatic patients working closely with the Medical Oncology & Oncology Consultants.
- To run Nurse Led clinics for the Uro/Oncology CNS service.
- To provide cover for the Uro/Oncology CNS service.
Main duties of the job
- Using the views of patients and carers, the CNS will work under the direction of the the Lead Urology Nurse and Head of Cancer Nurse and the consultants to improve the care of patients, provide specialist help and support to their families and carers and to act as advocate by providing information which leads to informing patient choice.
- This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Urology or Oncology Nurse to work with in an established team.
- We are looking for a dedicated and passionate nurse who will support the patients and their family/carers on the wards and in the outpatient setting.
- You will need to be able to demonstrate an expert level of skill and knowledge in the field of Urology and or Oncology with at least 2 years relevant experience.
- This post requires a nurse who not only is an autonomous practitioner but can also work well within a team. You are expected to cover cross sites- (SGH and Queen Mary's Roehampton).

Qualifications
- Level 1 registered nurse (Adult) on MNC register
- Degree Nursing
- Evidence of on-going professional development
- 2 years urology experience
- 2 years Oncology experience
Skills
- Ability to effectively prioritise workload and patient care needs
- Demonstrates an understanding of managing resources
- Able to manage case load
- Experience in audits/data base updates
- Advanced decision making skills
- Physical Assessment skills
Experience
- Leadership and management experience
- Ability to teach patients or carers
- Experience of delivering presentations
Knowledge
- Knowledge of urological conditions
- Training and teaching in formal and informal settings.
- Demonstrates an understanding of clinical risk
- Knowledge of research /data collection /projects
