Job summary

A leading manufacturing company in Stockport is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to machine components from technical drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with CNC machines, strong attention to detail, and a self-motivated attitude. Responsibilities include operating CNC machines, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining a tidy workspace. An engineering apprenticeship or similar qualification is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience operating CNC machines.
• Sound knowledge of geometrical tolerances is essential.
• Fanuc experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Machine components to technical drawings and specifications.
• Set-up and operate CNC machines.
• Manufacture components following company quality procedures.
• Conduct self-inspection of own work.
• Perform preventative and general maintenance checks.

Reporting To

• CNC Machinist - Milling
• Machine Shop Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

• To machine components to technical drawings and specifications.
• Set-up and operate CNC machines.
• Manufacture components from engineering drawings, whilst working within company Quality procedures.
• Self-inspection of own work.
• Preventative & General maintenance checks.
• Ensure all HSE legislations are adhered to at all times.
• Produce components to the correct standards within a timely and efficient manner.
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping and follow the 5S program.
• Excellent timekeeping and attendance.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Read and understand engineering drawings.
• Ability to set and operate CNC machines - Milling.
• Ability to edit and prove out CNC programs.
• Ability to use a range of measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers etc.).
• Sound knowledge of geometrical tolerances.
• Good attention to detail.
• Strong team player with a can do attitude.
• Must be self-motivated.
• Previous experience within the oil and gas industry preferred but not essential.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience operating CNC machines.
• Must have an Engineering Apprenticeship or similar.
• Fanuc experience advantageous.
