Machine Tool Operator

Location: Ashton-under-Lyne

Pay: £17.50 per hour

Hours: 37 hours per week

Overtime: Paid after 37 hours at time + 1/3 (x1.33)

Holidays: UK bank holidays plus 5 additional days over the Christmas period

Equipment: Harford CNC machine with FANUC controls

Progression & Training: Growing company with real progression; first-aid certification and on-the-job training provided

The role

Operate a Harford CNC with FANUC controls to produce quality components to drawing, keeping the machine set, running and within tolerance. You'll program at the control from drawings, adjust offsets, carry out basic checks and keep accurate records.

What you'll do
  • Set, operate and program at the control from drawings
  • Run first-off and in-process inspections; maintain tight tolerances
  • Adjust tooling/offsets; complete basic maintenance and housekeeping
  • Work collaboratively with production/quality to hit targets and lead times
  • Keep clear job records and handovers
What you'll need
  • FANUC control experience (essential)
  • Confident programming from engineering drawings (G-code at the control)
  • Experience on Harford machines is a plus
  • Solid understanding of tooling, feeds/speeds and machining best practice
  • Quality focus with ability to read and interpret drawings and measuring equipment
  • Reliable, safety-first approach; right to work in the UK
Nice to have
  • Experience with Heidenhain or NUM controls
  • Both turning and milling exposure
  • Basic preventative maintenance experience
