Machine Operator – Slitter Machine

Job description

Our client, a global leader in packaged good solutions, has an immediate need for an experienced Machine / Slitter Operator to join our winning team in York.

The candidate of choice will produce a quality product in accordance with company and customer specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate slitter efficiently and productively against set goals
• Loading and unloading of rolls on slitter
• Interpret and understand written information (orders, SOP’s, Lam. and print roll tickets etc.)
• Palletization (building pallets of finished goods per customer specifications)
• Bagging of finished rolls
• Quality checks on slit material
  • Lay flat/measurement of slit web
  • Print quality/print defects
  • Roll/web tension and integrity
• Enter accurate information into computer and on production forms
• Print out and attach accurate labels to finished rolls
• Keep machine and surrounding area safe and clean
• Spot and determine visual defects
• Cut out defects and splice together good material
• Comply with all general Company-wide standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and any job or department specific SOP’s
  • SOP’s may cover the areas of (but are not limited to):
    • Employee Health and Safety
    • SQF (Safe Quality Food packager) and GMP (good manufacturing procedures) focused on eliminating contaminates in all packaging manufactured
    • SGP (Sustainable Green Printer) environmental regulatory procedures and SOP’s

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to read a tape measure/ruler
• Ability to use a computer (basic computer skills, data entry)
• Basic math skills
• Good organizational skills
• Communicate well with others
• Basic reading skills
• Basic writing skills (must be legible)
• Use of minor tools (i.e., allen wrenches)
• Use of sharp cutting tools
• Process written information (orders, SOP’S, etc.)
