Machine Operator – Day Shift

Tranent | Full-time | Permanent

Hours: 7.00 AM - 5.15 PM (Mon - Thur)

Overtime available

Pay increases once training is complete.

At Had Fab, we build the steelwork that keeps the UK powered. We’re looking for a Machine Operator to join our night‑shift team, running CNC and fabrication equipment to produce high‑quality components for major infrastructure projects.

What You’ll Do
  • Operate CNC and related fabrication machinery to cut, drill, and shape steel
  • Interpret drawings and work to tight tolerances
  • Carry out basic programming or adjust machine settings as needed
  • Use overhead cranes, hand tools, and measuring equipment safely and effectively
  • Inspect finished work and complete quality checks
  • Keep your area clean, organised, and production‑ready
  • Work closely with your team to keep workflow on target
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven CNC or heavy‑machine operating experience (steel, fabrication, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of machine setup, tooling, and tolerances
  • Able to read engineering drawings and follow work instructions
  • Safety‑minded, reliable, and detail‑focused
  • Programming knowledge (advantage but not essential)
  • Willingness to work night shift and occasional overtime
