Job summary

DS Smith in Livingston is recruiting a Machine Operative on a permanent basis reporting to the Shift Manager. You will operate machinery to maximise efficiency, meet production targets and maintain safety standards.

You should have production/machine operating experience, a proactive attitude, and good problem-solving and communication skills. Training and progression opportunities exist within a company that values its people and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a production/machine operating environment.
• Self-motivated with a can-do attitude.
• Enthusiasm to join our expanding team.

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Experience: 1 year (Preferred)

Job description

We are now recruiting for a Machine Operative to join us on a permanent term. Reporting to the Shift Manager this role will ensure that we achieve our business goals across DS Smith Packaging.

Key Accountabilities:

• Be accountable for own and others health and safety whilst at work, operating in line with SSOW (safe systems of work) and company procedures to enable a safe working environment.
• Raise any unsafe acts seen immediately with individual(s) concerned and immediate reporting of health and safety incidents to management
• Be responsible for the operation of machinery to ensure efficiencies are maximised and downtime is minimised.
• Achieve set productivity and performance targets ensuring consistent quality standards are met.
• To ensure that maintenance and cleaning tasks are carried out correctly and in line with the planned maintenance schedule.
• Support and assist with improvement initiatives

Hours of work:

The site operate a 3 shift rotation pattern (short shift on Friday's) of: Dayshift: 6am - 1.15pm Afternoons: 1.15pm - 10.45pm Nights: 10.45pm - 6am
