Qualifications

  • Previous machine operative experience in a food manufacturing environment is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty and high-speed machinery.
  • Excellent knowledge of safety methods and hazard regulations.
  • Working level of speaking and reading English.
  • Numerate; able to understand and work with numbers.
  • Comfortable working in a chilled environment and with raw protein.

Overview

Join the paw-some team at Rudie's Kitchen, part of Butternut Box, where we cook up tails of success and wagging tails. We are looking for hard-working dog lovers to join our manufacturing team in Blyth, Doncaster. The role is a full-time permanent contract with a rolling average of 41 hours per week on a shift rotation (days and nights) and some weekend work.

Compensation: £12.84 per hour plus a shift premium of 20% (£15.41 per hour). Base salary is £27,468, with 20% (£32,961) after premium.

Role title (Butternut terminology): Skilled Operator (also known as Machine Operator, Machine Technician, Manufacturing Technician).

The role
  • Work in a safe way following all appropriate safety procedures and wearing protective equipment correctly at all times
  • Drive line performance and diagnose operational issues with the lines
  • Conduct quality checks to meet product specifications
  • Perform machine/equipment hygiene and changeovers
  • Prepare ingredients for production and mix recipes
  • Operate production line equipment to the agreed operational settings
  • Contribute to general tasks such as waste processing and order packing
  • Work to relevant standards and KPIs
  • Attend daily review meetings and participate in online performance reviews
  • Maintain general facility hygiene and practice clean-as-you-go

Qualifications and requirements

  • Previous machine operative experience in a food manufacturing environment is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty and high-speed machinery
  • Excellent knowledge of safety methods and hazard regulations
  • Working level of speaking English and the ability to read English
  • Numerate; able to understand and work with numbers
  • Comfortable working in a chilled environment and in an environment that processes raw protein (lamb, pork, turkey, chicken)

Location and hours

This role is based in Blyth, Doncaster (A1(M) and A614 junction).

Shifts are a mix of days and nights (7:00–19:00 days; 19:00–07:00 nights) with some weekend work, and a rolling average of 41 hours per week.

Compliance and additional information: 16/17-year-olds cannot work between midnight and 04:00 as per UK government requirements; a manual role involving long periods on your feet and some heavy lifting; clothing and PPE provided; proximity to the workplace and commuting considerations may be required.
