Job summary

Understanding Recruitment is seeking a Machine Learning Research Scientist for an early-stage UK startup at the intersection of machine learning and robotics. This highly research-driven role focuses on advancing robot learning, vision-language-action models and world models on real robotic systems.

You will research and develop novel Physical AI approaches, train and evaluate VLAs and world models, explore new architectures and data strategies, and help shape the company's research roadmap

Qualifications

• Strong research background in machine learning, robotics or computer vision
• Deep understanding of modern deep learning
• Experience training and evaluating ML models
• Strong mathematical and experimental skills
• Comfortable tackling open-ended research problems
• Able to take an idea from hypothesis through to rigorous experimentation
