Overview

M&E Quantity Surveyor – Cardiff – Permanent salary + benefits package. We are seeking a motivated M&E Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of a major healthcare project. You will work closely with project leaders, subcontractors, and the wider commercial team to ensure strong financial performance, robust contract administration, and effective risk management. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking contractor delivering a flagship M&E package.

Responsibilities
  • Liaise with M&E subcontractors and manage commercial aspects of their packages.
  • Provide advice on contractual matters and ensure commercial compliance.
  • Prepare and update project cost reports, progress reports, and work-in-progress information.
  • Support senior commercial staff with pricing variations and compensation events.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and assist with procurement and work package administration.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and update internal cost control platforms.
  • Collaborate with construction teams to support project delivery.
  • Prepare monthly commercial documentation and support final account processes.
  • Manage delegated resources (budgets, contracts, equipment) to ensure value for money.
  • Demonstrate and promote company values, safety culture, and corporate policies.
Essential Requirements
  • BSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
  • 2-4 years' post-graduate experience in a similar role with NEC experience (Option C)
  • OR
  • 8+ years' experience in a similar commercial role.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and high attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Desirable
  • Previous experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor, ideally on hospitals or complex buildings.
  • Awareness of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Experience working within a structured commercial framework and strong understanding of compliance.
