Job summary

Avove Utilities is seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Project Engineer to manage water industry projects across the UK. You will engage with Project and Site Managers from design to commissioning, ensuring quality project delivery while blending site work and office tasks.

Ideal candidates will possess mechanical experience in the water sector and be equipped to support efficient project executions. Benefits include a company car allowance and extensive health support options.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems including pumps, valves, tanks, and filters.
  • Awareness of DWI, WIMES and WRAS standards.

  • Provide progress updates to the Project Manager against programme and budget.
  • Review mechanical method statements and technical documentation.
  • Attend site regularly to oversee installation and commissioning.

Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Project Engineer to join our growing team and support the delivery of water industry projects across the UK. You’ll work closely with Project and Site Managers throughout the full project lifecycle — from design and build through to commissioning — with a mix of site work, office tasks and home working. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical experience in the water sector who can ensure safe, efficient and high quality project delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Manage mechanical engineering activities across design, build and commissioning phases.
  • Provide progress updates to the Project Manager against programme and budget.
  • Review and contribute to mechanical method statements, risk assessments and technical documentation.
  • Prepare mechanical subcontractor scopes and ensure materials and equipment are correctly specified and procured.
  • Produce and implement mechanical Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) to project and company standards.
  • Support site teams with timely engineering decisions to minimise rework and maintain programme.
  • Attend site regularly to oversee mechanical installation, commissioning and operational support activities.
About You
  • Proven experience delivering mechanical or MEICA projects within the water treatment industry.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems including:
    • Pumps, pipework, valves (manual & actuated)
    • Tanks, vessels, filters, surge systems
    • Dosing systems, mixers, screens and other treatment related equipment
  • Awareness of DWI, WIMES and WRAS standards.
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, water movement and chemical dosing.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and able to interpret or contribute to project programmes.
