Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the United Kingdom is seeking a Rail Systems M&E Engineer to join our Design and Engineering team, providing technical leadership across the full project lifecycle from concept to commissioning.

You will coordinate signalling, power, communications and M&E interfaces, ensure compliance with Network Rail standards and industry best practices, and drive innovation and safety in complex rail projects. This position supports flexible working arrangements.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering complex Rail Systems and M&E projects within the rail infrastructure sector.
  • Strong understanding of systems integration and multidisciplinary project delivery.
  • Knowledge of Network Rail standards, railway assurance processes and UK regulations.
  • Experience managing technical interfaces across signalling, communications, power and M&E disciplines.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution such as IET, IRSE, IMechE or ICE, or working towards professional registration.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach with a commitment to innovation, safety and engineering excellence.

  • Manage technical interfaces and ensure effective integration across multiple work packages and project stakeholders.
  • Support engineering reviews, technical approvals and assurance processes to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, suppliers and regulatory bodies to develop practical and innovative solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation and technical excellence across rail systems project delivery.
