A regional health service provider in Peterlee seeks a Lymphoedema Community Nurse to provide specialist care, primarily in patients' homes. We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Specialist Lymphoedema service. The successful applicant will work countywide, visiting patients in their own homes, supporting Community Nursing Services with the management of lymphoedema from an office base in Peterlee. The team work between 08:30-17:00 Monday to Friday. The role involves assessing patients and providing specialist advice, signposting where appropriate. Successful applicants will be required to hold a first level nursing registration with the NMC; additional training specific to the role can be provided.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients\' homes.

From April 9th 2025 - Healthcare assistants - You must have a minimum of two years of experience working within the NHS as a HCA for the Trust to consider sponsorship (we will only consider sponsorship if you meet this criteria and have a current visa expiring within 3 months).
The successful candidate will provide specialist lymphoedema care including new patient lymphoedema assessment, measuring for garments, reviewing plan of care. The role involves assessment of patient care needs, care planning, delivery of care and review. The role predominantly involves delivering patient lymphoedema care to patients in their homes, care homes, completing joint visits with district nurses and providing clinic coverage for routine lymphoedema patients as required. The successful candidate will be required to work independently as part of the wider Specialist team, reporting back to senior staff on duty.
