About the role

We are currently looking to recruit dedicated and highly motivated Learning Support Assistants to join our Learning Support teams in our Inclusive Learning Department and to continue our work delivering an outstanding experience for the learners we serve.

The role will involve working with learners across the College who have a variety of educational requirements, including providing underpinning support to enable learners to access learning for the development of practical and academic skills, participating in outside trips and visits and offering every possible advantage to this group of young people.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be collaborating with the amazing young people referred to us for additional learning support and will demonstrate high levels of ambition for those young people. You will be friendly and empathetic and excel in building strong, respectful working relationships with learners, teammates and others. You will provide support for learners on the programme by implementing an effective range of learning strategies to ensure outstanding learning outcomes and enable each to realise their full potential. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team, logically analysing the progress of those being supported and adapting strategies to bring about change.

The person

Essentially, you will have experience working with young people, ideally with those who have additional learning needs. You should have excellent communication and influencing skills, good IT skills and a good general education, including Maths and English GCSE or equivalent.

You will have a strong track record of being involved with practitioners delivering good or better teaching and learning delivery whilst achieving high levels of learner success. You will also have experience of supporting students with additional needs, ideally including high‑functioning autism and/or social, emotional and mental health needs. You will be prepared to provide personal support, for example, by administering medicines, if appropriate, once training has been received.
