Job summary

Empowering Learning Ltd is recruiting an LRC Manager for Redbridge, to run a busy library in a secondary school. You will ensure the LRC is welcoming and well-organised, and celebrate reading and research.

You will lead stock management, displays, author visits and enrichment activities, while supporting students with literacy, study skills and independent learning in a vibrant school community.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a school or public library preferred.
• Passion for reading and promoting learning.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn library systems quickly.
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.
• DBS check or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day LRC operations, stock, cataloguing, and displays.
• Promote reading and independent research across the school.
• Support students with literacy and research during LRC sessions.
• Assist teachers with curriculum-linked projects and sourcing.
• Manage library system: issuing, returns, cataloguing.
• Organise author visits and reading events.
• Maintain diverse and inclusive book stock.
• Support students during breaks in the LRC as study space.
• Collaborate with English dept and SENCO on reading interventions.
