Full‑Time Med‑Tech or LPN – Evening Shift
This position offers competitive pay and benefits. It is an evening position from 2:30 p‑10:30 p. Premium pay and shift differential are being offered.
Education / Training
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must successfully complete the Department of Human Services direct care staff training and examination within the first 14 days of the introductory period.
- Must have Med‑Tech certification.
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification, or obtain certification within 30 days of starting the position.
Skills
- Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills.
- Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills.
- General knowledge of assigned department’s operations.
- Decision‑making skills.
- Knowledge of current Department of Public Welfare regulations for personal care home.
Experience
- None required, but Med‑Tech certification is mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Administers medications and treatments in the appropriate area and time, properly identifying the resident, medication, label directions, and route of administration.
- Ensures that medications and treatments are maintained in a locked/secured area.
- Reports medication needs and concerns to the pharmacy effectively.
- Maintains narcotic records accurately according to interdepartmental guidelines and reports any discrepancies to the Health Services Manager.
- Performs routine administrative tasks such as completing lab slips, scheduling appointments and transportation, preparing podiatry lists, and handling maintenance requests.
- Admits, transfers, and discharges residents following written physician’s orders and in accordance with Agency policy.
- Monitors all lab work to ensure compliance with physician’s orders and state and federal regulations; consults with the physician regarding abnormal results and follows approved actions.
- Accurately evaluates residents’ physical and emotional status and notifies the physician of any changes in condition.
- Administers professional services such as Foley care, dressing applications and changes, hot and cold packs, O₂ therapy, etc., using appropriate aseptic technique.
