Job summary

Assystem is recruiting for a nuclear commissioning engineer to support critical electrical systems on a major project in the UK. You will conduct testing, verification and readiness activities in a highly regulated environment, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

Join our team to apply nuclear safety standards, manage documentation and mentor junior staff on site, while contributing to continuous programme improvement across the Hinkley Point C project.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in commissioning within regulated industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of LV electrical systems, testing, installation and maintenance.
  • Understanding of electrical isolation, switching procedures and safety rules.
  • Knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations and BS 7671.
  • Experience on large infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Strong communication with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proactive, collaborative problem-solving approach.
  • IOSH accreditation and Behavioural Safety Programme advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Execute commissioning activities across LV electrical distribution and power systems.
  • Commission transformers, switchboards, UPS systems and large battery installations.
  • Apply nuclear, electrical and industrial safety requirements during commissioning.
  • Manage commissioning documentation, configuration control and technical records.
  • Analyse test results and resolve technical deviations with stakeholders.
  • Support commissioning hold points and nuclear safety compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate activities with mechanical, process and I&C teams.
  • Conduct system walkdowns, punch-list closure and readiness verification.
  • Capture operational experience feedback for programme improvement.
  • Support development of junior engineers and commissioning technicians onsite.

Job Description
