Job summary

B. & M. McHugh Ltd in London is seeking a reliable Multi-Skilled Maintenance Operative to join our estates team on the King’s College London contract. The role covers building fabric, PPM and reactive repairs across London central/south sites.

You will perform carpentry, plastering, roofing, glazing, sealing and painting, update CAFM records, and work to RAMS and safety rules. Travel between contracts is expected.

Qualifications

• Proven practical experience in building maintenance or Fabric repairs within FM.
• Skilled in carpentry, plastering, basic roofing, glazing and general repairs.
• Able to diagnose fabric issues and deliver lasting repairs.
• Able to follow RAMS and read simple drawings; good IT literacy for CAFM records.
• Strong health & safety awareness and team communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver PPM and reactive maintenance across building fabric (roofs, facades, doors, windows, finishes).
• Carry out minor carpentry, plastering, basic roofing, glazing repairs, sealing and painting.
• Inspect fabric defects, diagnose root causes and complete remedial works.
• Update asset register and CAFM records with accurate completion evidence.
• Work to RAMS and safety rules; liaise with client contacts and site teams.
• Maintain tools, PPE and report plant or material needs.
• Participate in HSQE activities and report incidents/near misses.
