Job summary

Barts Health NHS Trust in London seeks a Retrieval Practitioner for a 6-month secondment with the ACCESS service. You will contribute to safe, timely transfers of critically ill adults between ICU units and specialist services, working within a multidisciplinary team across London's four sectors.

You will uphold professional standards, mentor colleagues, participate in teaching and service development, and ensure effective communication and data reporting.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to safely transfer critically ill patients.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication and data collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the required knowledge and skills to safely transfer patients from the Critical Care environment to the agreed destination.
• Adhere to ACCESS policies and guidelines and be able to utilise them to meet care needs.
• Adhere to National Guidance.
• Ensure swift response times aiming to meet the mobilisation standard.
• Ensure completion of local and national data collection.
• Check transfer equipment to ensure everything is functioning and mobilisation time is maintained.
• Monitor resources ensuring consumables are adequately stocked.
• Contribute to servicing and troubleshooting of equipment to maintain safe order.
• Contribute to safe transfer service delivery through feedback and surveillance of incidents.
• Maintain patient privacy and dignity at all times.
• Disseminate complex information clearly to the multidisciplinary team.
• Recognise own limitations and seek appropriate help.
• Understand and practise effective teamwork.
• Demonstrate proficiency with equipment used in care and management of transferring patients.
