Qualifications

Pay Rate: £37.52 - £38.50 depending on exp

About the Role: Tripod Partners are working with the London Borough of Merton to recruit an experienced Children in Care Social Worker to join their dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practitioner to work within a stable, supportive service that places the child’s voice and well-being at the centre of all planning. You will work with looked-after children and young people to ensure they receive the best possible outcomes in care, education, and life opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of looked-after children, carrying out statutory visits and reviews.
  • Develop, review, and implement care and pathway plans in line with legislation and best practice.
  • Work closely with foster carers, schools, health professionals, and other partners to ensure holistic care.
  • Prepare high-quality court statements, reports, and care plans.
  • Support young people in transition to independence and adulthood.
  • Contribute to placement stability and permanence planning.
  • Maintain accurate, timely records on Mosaic (case management system).

Requirements:

  • Social Work England registration (SWE).
  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 2years’ post-qualified experience in a statutory children’s social care setting – ideally within Looked After Children / Children in Care / Corporate Parenting teams.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation (Children Act 1989, Care Planning Regulations, etc.).
  • Excellent report-writing, assessment, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment.
