Overview

Are you our next Logistic Support Worker wanting to join us in the NHS?

We are looking for motivated individuals to join our busy multi-functional logistics team who undertake a variety of tasks across the Trust.

Base location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital. This role may require working across sites within the University Hospital Dorset Trust and may involve weekend and bank holiday work on a rota.

Job Responsibilities
  • Duties may involve working within the linen room (including uniform issues), packing and distributing clean linen to wards and departments.
  • Working within the goods inwards area handling receipt and distribution of ordered items.
  • Working in the post room area sorting, distributing and franking letters and parcels.
  • Use computers and barcode scanners as part of processes; basic computer skills are required with on-the-job training provided.
  • Manually handle goods safely for significant periods (bulky/heavy) using equipment such as roll cages and pallet trucks, as appropriate.
  • Be flexible in working hours and location; cross-site work may be required.
  • May require a flexible shift pattern, including occasional weekend and bank holiday work on a rota and additional payment where applicable.

Qualifications and Requirements

Essential

  • Must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Team working experience
  • Awareness of customer service provision
  • Willingness to learn a wide range of tasks relating to the Trust’s logistics activities
  • Basic IT skills to use electronic systems for daily activities, training and information
  • Able to operate simple machinery to facilitate safe manual handling
  • Able to work flexibly within a shift pattern which includes weekends and bank holidays
  • Able to manually handle goods for significant periods safely using appropriate equipment

Desirable

  • Full car driving licence (endorsements need consideration)
  • First aid at work certificate
  • Intermediate IT skills including MS Excel & MS Word
