Position: Logistics Services Manager
Location: (DSTL) - Fareham - Portsdown West
Additional Information: Proof of right to work in UK essential, the current working hours allow for an early finish on a Friday!
We are seeking a full-time, versatile, and enthusiastic Manager responsible for Logistics Services, including the delivery of stores receipt and despatch, and on-site delivery, mail services, and porterage, together with conference coordination and management of the receptionist team at Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, Portsdown West, Fareham.
The successful candidate will fulfil a pivotal role facilitating the broad range services exercising a high degree of expertise to customer relationship management. Occasional travel may be required to other sites/locations for meetings. The successful candidate will have the professional capability to multi-task when and where needed, as required by the business. Training will be given where required.
Main Responsibilities
- Promote the development and optimum performance of the delivery team, taking appropriate and timely action to mitigate risk and the potential for service failure across all service areas.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of:
- a team of operatives controlling the receipt, storage, issue, and on-site movement of goods.
- a team of mail operatives receiving, scanning, sorting, and delivering mail, including small packages on-site. Responsibility includes x-ray scanner compliance and the collection of mail from mail points and preparation for despatch, including franking.
- A team of porters responsible for moving packages around the site and general labouring tasks.
- A team of conferencing support staff responsible for meeting room space management.
- A team of receptionists covering main gate access control.
- Promote the development and optimum performance of the Mitie delivery team.
- Identify and implement innovative solutions to meet the emerging demands of the business within contractual boundaries.
- Identify and recruit essential staff into an established dynamic and specialised team when needed.
- As necessary, liaise with site stakeholders to avoid and mitigate issues.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in full compliance with current Health and Safety Regulations and the General Data Protection Regulations.
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and attending / deputising for the Operations Manager at site meetings.
- Undertake any additional tasks as determined by the Line Manager, including leading on change to meet the emerging needs of the business, and authorised Public Events.
Qualifications
- The successful candidate will be well-organised, precise, confident with credible communication skills readily able and willing to contribute at all levels and line management experience. In addition, the individual will be versatile, intuitive, and professional with good judgement and absolute integrity. Pro-active and persuasive when required and responsive to changing needs of the business and demands of the customer, while remaining calm under pressure and self-motivated, the incumbent will be reliable and well presented, giving a positive image of MITIE company values.
- Management experience with good organisational and motivational skills and a high degree of integrity.
- Proven track record of delivering quality administration and service with customer facing experience.
- Persuasive and credible verbal and written communicator with the ability to develop close working relationships.
- IT literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Conversant/knowledge of asset management (desirable).
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Proactive approach and the ability to embrace and lead on change.
- Ability to manage short notice changes to requirements and deadline.
- Management level knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and practice (IOSH (Managing Safely) desirable).
- Good standard of education, preferably to NVQ Level 5 or equivalent.
