Logistics Services Assistant

Site - RBTH

Grade - Band 2

Hours – 12 hours per week (Monday and Tuesday)

Salary – £24,465 pro rata

Current vacant hours - 12 hours

Overview

Responsible for ensuring collection and delivery of goods, food, waste including clinical waste throughout the Trust, following strict policies and standard operating practices over the 24/7 period. Manage replacement of medical gas cylinders, daily pharmacy/pathology stock runs, handling of blood and other sample products, and support offsite logistics teams for GP/clinic deliveries.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and deliver goods, food, and waste, including clinical waste, across the Trust.
  • Replace medical gas cylinders and remove empty ones safely.
  • Perform daily pharmacy, pathology, and other stock/top‑up and collection runs.
  • Handle blood and other sample products in sealed containers.
  • Support offsite logistics teams in delivering and collecting from GP’s and clinics.
  • Maintain safe transportation and storage procedures.
  • Adhere to schedules and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications
  • Current UK driving licence (Category C1 preferred).
  • Advantageous to hold a Professional Competence Certificate.
  • Physically fit, capable of moving and handling goods of varying sizes, shapes and weights.
  • Willingness to walk many miles during the day.
  • Ability to pass practical, reading, writing and annual driving assessments.
