About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Logistics Operations Manager to lead our Tanker Logistics team in Skelmersdale. This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the cost-efficient collection and delivery of raw milk while maintaining exceptional service standards. You\'ll lead a high-performing team, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with all legal and safety standards.

Monday-Friday (40 hours)

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a high-performing logistics team.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Manage depot operations, including rota planning, staffing, and cost control.
  • Deliver against KPIs and OGSM targets.
  • Drive customer service excellence for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure legal compliance for drivers and vehicles.
  • Conduct performance reviews, training, and disciplinary procedures.

  • Knowledge of haulage legislation and employment law.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 GCSEs (A-C or equivalent)
  • O Licence CPC Certification
  • IOSH Certification

Desired:

  • Experience in milk and/or food logistics
  • Familiarity with unionized environments (e.g., USDAW)
