Location: Reading, RG4 | Job Type: Permanent | Salary: £45,000 - £47,000

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to lead and optimise logistics operations at a busy site in the Thames Valley region. Our company, a well-established international service provider, delivers tailored solutions across multiple sectors including hospitality, healthcare, and industry. We have a strong focus on sustainability and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a logistics team of 14, including a supervisor, ensuring high performance and engagement.
  • Oversee compliance with all relevant health & safety, operator licence, and legal standards.
  • Plan and allocate resources, including temporary staff, to meet operational demands.
  • Manage departmental budgets and investigate variances to maintain financial control.
  • Analyse logistics data to improve route efficiency, service quality, and reduce customer losses.
  • Drive continuous improvement through lean principles (e.g., 5S, LEAN loading/unloading).
  • Support environmental goals through efficient route planning and fuel economy.
  • Ensure compliance with hygiene standards for vehicle and driver operations.
  • Collaborate closely with production and service teams to ensure seamless customer delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience in logistics leadership within a customer-focused environment.
  • CPC qualification essential.
  • Strong track record in continuous improvement and team development.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and logistics systems (e.g., Telematics, Dynamics).
  • Full UK driving licence (max 6 points).
Desirable
  • Experience with Six Sigma or lean manufacturing/logistics.
  • Budget forecasting and financial planning experience.
  • HGV Class 2 licence.
