Job Description
Based in Elmsall you’ll play a key role in supporting our warehouse operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis, and efficient forecasting. Working closely with finance and operational teams, you’ll help drive cost efficiency and provide financial insight to support key business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Period End & Reporting
- Take ownership of warehouse period-end postings, including all journals and cost allocations.
- Post actuals and forecasts accurately and in line with timelines.
- Prepare periodic reports detailing cost movements and variances to forecast.
- Update Board Papers with actuals, commentary, and insights.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of accruals (e.g., staff costs, overtime, bonuses, and international hubs).
- Be the first point of contact for audit and finance queries.
Forecasting & Budgeting
- Set up and roll over forecast files; update and post forecasts in the MWF system.
- Stream costs across sales streams and forecast international cash flow for Head Office teams.
- Support in preparing the annual budget for all warehouse operations, consolidating input from individual sites.
Business Partnering
- Collaborate with warehouse management to review cost performance and drive improvements.
- Provide analysis and insights into CPU (Cost Per Unit) and warehouse KPIs.
- Support operational teams with cost focus packs and site-level reviews.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is analytical, proactive, and enjoys being close to the operation. You’ll need to be confident in managing data, spotting trends, and providing meaningful insights that support business performance.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in a commercial finance or management accounting role.
- Part-qualified or studying towards a professional accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA).
- Strong analytical and Excel skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build strong relationships across finance and operations.
- Organised and adaptable, with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Experience with Databricks is desirable but not essential.
