Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Leighton Buzzard, UK, is seeking a experienced Logistics Lead to manage daily import customs clearances, prepare export documentation and coordinate shipments. You will review declarations, maintain logs, and train to become the site Global Trade focal point, ensuring compliance with UK and international regulations.

The role requires knowledge of CBAM and HS classifications, plus strong communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily import customs clearances across procedures including IP, Temporary Admission, Temporary Exports, Airworthiness.
  • Prepare export documentation and coordinate shipments via courier or air freight.
  • Review and validate import/export declarations and maintain records.
  • Maintain import/export logs and track shipments for timely clearance.
  • Train to become site Global Trade focal point and provide coverage.
  • Ensure correct licenses and documentation are applied to shipments.
  • Liaise with customers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers for compliant documentation.
  • Review and code freight invoices for Finance and allocate costs to jobs.
  • Maintain records for IP Bills of Discharge and other customs movements.
  • Support HMRC audits and regulatory compliance.

Pratt & Whitney Canada (UK) Ltd (P&WC UK) provides in-field Mobile Repair Teams (MRT) and in-shop Heavy Engine Maintenance (HEMA) support throughout Europe, the Middle East & Africa (EMEA) based out


Requirements:


  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Logistics Lead, Logistics Management, or similar role, or a degree in Logistics or customs or a related field.

  • Working knowledge of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and US tariff regulations.

  • Strong understanding of Customs Procedure Codes and Harmonized System (HS) classification codes.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK and international customs regulations, procedures, and import/export processes.

  • Ability to accurately interpret, review, and validate customs declarations to ensure compliance.

  • Experience maintaining departmental policies, procedures, and work instructions.

  • Competent in preparing and submitting Inward Processing (IP) Bills of Discharge (BOD) reports.

  • Experience supporting or leading HMRC customs audits and ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance.

  • Good understanding of trade compliance, international trade regulations, sanctions, and import/export licensing requirements.

  • Proficient in SAP, with strong experience using the Shipping module.

  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across logistics, customs, and supply chain teams.


What You'll Be Doing


  • Manage daily import customs clearances across a range of customs procedures, including Inward Processing (IP), Temporary Admission, Temporary Exports, Airworthiness, and other applicable customs regimes.

  • Prepare export documentation and commercial invoices, and coordinate shipments via courier, air freight, or dedicated transport services.

  • Review and validate all import and export customs declarations, ensuring accuracy and submitting amendments where required while maintaining comprehensive records.

  • Maintain accurate import and export logs, ensuring all relevant shipment and customs information is recorded.

  • Train to become the site's Global Trade focal point, providing cover and support when required.

  • Ensure the correct customs licences, authorisations, and supporting documentation are applied to all import and export shipments.

  • Liaise with customers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant, enabling timely customs clearance.

  • Monitor and track all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure efficient and timely movement of goods.

  • Review and code freight invoices for Finance, ensuring costs are allocated to the correct jobs or projects.

  • Prepare and submit quarterly Inward Processing (IP) Bills of Discharge (BOD).

  • Maintain records and tracking logs for Temporary Exports, Temporary Admissions, and other customs-controlled movements.

  • Attend departmental and cross-functional meetings as required.

  • Provide support across the Supply Chain department and undertake additional duties as required to meet business needs.

  • Assist with loading and unloading vehicles when operationally required.

  • Managing GOV.UK account access for VAT, C79, PVA, and deferment statements. This includes retrieving, saving, and ideally validating statements to ensure correct usage (though validation has not been possible due to time constraints).

Requires theoretical to advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through University Degree combined with experience. Practical knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work. Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience. Engineering/Other Technical Positions:Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics(STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
