Job summary

Medecho LTD is seeking a Locum Senior House Officer in Orthopaedics & Surgery to join an NHS Trust on an immediate-start basis. The SHO will work within a dynamic surgical team, providing high-quality patient care across orthopaedic and general surgical services.

You must hold Full GMC registration with licence, NHS experience in orthopaedics, trauma, or general surgery, ALS certification, and be able to start ASAP. The role is on-site in Ashton-under-Lyne with a salary of £40–£45 per hour.

Qualifications

• Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
• NHS experience in Orthopaedics, Trauma & Orthopaedics, General Surgery, or related surgical specialties
• ALS certification (mandatory)
• Valid Right to Work in the UK
• Ability to start ASAP
• Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills
• Experience managing acute surgical patients and ward-based care

Responsibilities

• Assessment and management of orthopaedic and surgical inpatients
• Participation in ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings
• Reviewing new admissions and emergency referrals
• Pre-operative and post-operative patient management
• Assisting senior clinicians with patient care and treatment plans
• Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
• Liaising with nursing staff, Allied Health Professionals, and specialty teams
• Supporting patient discharge planning
