Job Summary

Department: Imaging Department (General X‑ray Areas)

Responsibilities
  • Manage and perform radiographic examinations, correlate practice with Directorate protocols, train and supervise junior staff and trainees, work independently during out‑of‑hours duties.
Main Duties
  • Assist senior Radiographic staff with day‑to‑day management and function of radiological sciences.
  • Supervise and support junior staff; ensure an efficient and high‑quality service.
  • Manage and report equipment / power failures as appropriate.
  • Promote and participate in clinical audits.
  • Conduct radiographic examinations to an acceptable standard and seek guidance as needed.
  • Adhere to the ALARA principle and ensure safety in the use of ionizing radiation.
  • Produce high‑quality, accurately labelled images.
  • Complete mandatory training and demonstrate competency in equipment use.
  • Participate in appraisal processes and full shift system, including evenings, nights and weekends.
  • Utilise Patient Administration System and Radiological Sciences technology (e.g., PACS).
Application Requirements
  • 18 months (about 1 and a half years) post‑Degree/DCR(R) qualification experience, BSc (Honours) Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
  • NHS experience.
