Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust seeks a Locum Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for 12 months in the Maxillofacial Department at Queen Alexandra Hospital. The role centers on head and neck cancer, reconstruction and skin cancer surgery, with supervision of junior doctors on the maxillofacial emergency rota.

The post includes a possible visiting role at St Mary's Hospital, Isle of Wight, limited to clinics and day case surgery.

Qualifications

• FRCS OMFS and GMC Specialist Register entry or within 6 months of CCST (or equivalent).
• Broad clinical training in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
• Experience in head and neck cancer, reconstruction and skin cancer surgery.

Responsibilities

• Manage head and neck cancer patients
• Carry out reconstruction surgery
• Carry out skin cancer surgery
• Supervise junior doctors on the maxillofacial emergency rota
• Participate in all aspects of department activity
• Undertake teaching, audit and research
• Work within the multidisciplinary team alongside consultant colleagues, GPs and dentists
• Possible visiting role at St Mary's Hospital, Isle of Wight, for clinics and day case surgery
