The Family Court Advisor is responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children involved in family court proceedings. The role involves completing assessments, engaging directly with children and families, and providing independent, evidence-based advice to the court to support informed and safe decision‑making.
Undertake safeguarding checks and initial risk assessments for children involved in private and public family court proceedings
Identify and assess risks relating to domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health, neglect, and potential harm to children
Prepare high‑quality safeguarding letters, welfare analyses, and court reports
Engage directly with children to understand and represent their wishes and lived experiences
Work collaboratively with parents, carers, legal professionals, and partner agencies
Assess parenting capacity and contribute to safe and child‑focused recommendations to the court
Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with professional and organisational standards
