A major healthcare provider in Scotland is seeking a Locum Consultant Colorectal Surgeon for maternity leave cover at Royal Alexandra Hospital. This role involves joining a team of specialists to provide high-quality colorectal services while participating in a general surgery on-call rota. Candidates are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or close to achieving CCT. The position fosters a collaborative environment with strong commitments to clinical education and research.

Shift pattern Monday – Friday 8‑5, with on‑call 1 in 10.
Fixed term post for 12 months; maternity leave cover.
Locum Consultant Colorectal Surgeon to join the General Surgery team at Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH), Paisley, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, providing maternity leave cover for 12 months. Successful applicant will join established team of Colorectal, Upper GI and Breast Consultants, providing specialist colorectal services and participating in General Surgery on‑call rota (currently 1:10).
Colorectal Service at RAH manages a wide range of benign and malignant conditions and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centred care across Clyde Sector. Unit works closely with regional services, weekly Colorectal Cancer MDT, dedicated ERAS pathways, support from CNS, radiology, pathology, gastroenterology, and oncology. RAH Consultants also provide clinical services at Vale of Leven Hospital.
The hospital has a strong commitment to education, with active undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, simulation facilities, and a proven record in supporting research and audit.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview) and demonstrate a commitment to high standards of clinical care, team working, and service improvement.
