A major healthcare institution is seeking a Locum Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to join their team in Luton. This role involves maintaining clinical standards, teaching medical staff, and providing specialist advice. An exciting opportunity is available for applications to the above full time post at Luton and Dunstable's 660 bed acute hospital serving a local population of approximately 400,000.
The main responsibilities of the Locum Consultant will be as follows:
Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the care of all patients presenting to the hospital
To share with colleagues, the management of Obstetric and Gynaecological patients across multiple clinical settings.
To undertake duties as defined within agreed job plan
Teaching and training of intermediate grade and junior medical staff, nursing staff and medical students
To undertake duties as defined within the agreed job plan
To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit
To have responsibility for and actively participate in continuing professional development (CPD)
To participate in on-call rota providing specialist and timely advice.
This is a post for a Locum Consultant Gynaecologist with a special interest in Urogynaecology, to commence as soon as possible.
This post is likely to evolve in the future with the growing Urogynaecology work and in line with the requirements specified by the British Society of Urogynaecology (BSUG).
The appointee will be based at Luton & Dunstable University Hospital (but may be asked to work at other Bedfordshire hospital sites including Bedford hospital) and run gynaecology and gynaecological 2WW clinics, hysteroscopy clinics, labour wards, Gynaecology MDT, participate in the on-call rota for both obstetrics and gynaecology, and run theatre sessions. We are happy to support the appointee with Colposcopy clinics, if they have Colposcopy interests.
It is expected that the post holder, once appointed, will work in partnership with the existing Urogynaecologist at Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
