Position

Full‑time Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist (Renal, Melanoma & CUP) – Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

About the role

We are excited to announce the creation of a new Consultant post in Oncology, reflecting our commitment to expanding and enhancing services. The role will be based at both NUH and the satellite service at KMH, supporting patients throughout their cancer journey.

Team

The appointee will join a multidisciplinary team comprising:

  • 2 Medical Oncology Consultants (renal) and 3 Medical Oncology Consultants (melanoma)
  • 2 prescribing Clinical Nurse Specialists covering melanoma and renal patients
  • 2 Clinical Oncology Consultants providing radiotherapy cover
  • Rotational Specialist Registrars (SPRs) and ward resident doctors
Responsibilities
  • Lead outpatient clinics for new, on‑treatment and follow‑up melanoma and renal cancer patients
  • Conduct inpatient ward rounds and support skin and urology MDT attendance
  • Provide clinical support to the CNS team for ad hoc queries and clinic patients
  • Train and support SPRs and ward resident doctors
  • Prescribe immunotherapy, targeted therapy and chemotherapy for melanoma and renal cancer, and investigate and manage treatment complications
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Qualified Consultant in Medical Oncology, with experience in renal, melanoma and CUP cancers
  • Confidence in prescribing the agreed specialties and dealing with associated complications
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment
Additional Information
  • Salary: quoted salary on a pro‑rata basis for part‑time workers
  • ID and right‑to‑work checks will be carried out as part of the recruitment process
  • A DBS check may be required; applicants will be reimbursed for the cost if the check is undertaken
