We are seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant on a six month fixed term contract within the sexual health and HIV Service.
As a Locum Consultant in Sexual Health, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality clinical care, ensuring service continuity, and supporting the wider sexual health team. This role requires expertise ingenitourinary medicine (GUM), contraception, and HIV care, as well as the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary setting.
Provide specialist care in thediagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Managecomplex and high-risk cases, including recurrent infections, antibiotic-resistant STIs, and sexual health concerns in vulnerable populations.
Offer expert advice onHIV prevention, testing, and treatment, includingPrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis).
Conductcontraceptive consultationsand procedures, including the fitting/removal ofintrauterine devices (IUDs) and subdermal implants.
Support the integration ofpsychosexual health servicesfor patients with sexual dysfunction or trauma-related concerns.
Work closely with nurses, health advisors, and other specialists to ensure aholistic approach to patient care.
Contribute to thecontinuity of careby managing patient caseloads and ensuring timely follow-ups.
Maintainhigh clinical governance standards, adhering to national guidelines (BASHH, BHIVA, FSRH).
Participate inmultidisciplinary meetings, offering clinical leadership and expertise.

This is a 8 PA fixed-term Locum Consultant post in the Department of Sexual Health and HIV. Applications are welcome from candidates with a relevant Certificate of Completion of Training (or within 6 months of completion of training and eligible for the specialist register) in Genito-Urinary Medicine. The remit of the post-holder will be to work primarily within the integrated sexual health service at the Denmark Hill site but also to flexibly provide support at the Beckenham Beacon site if required. The post holder will be expected to work within the multidisciplinary teams in the Department of Sexual Health, providing clinical leadership and supporting service developments. Additional clinical duties will be based around special interests of the candidate.
The post-holder will be required to play leadership role and share in the general workload of the sexual health department. There will be a significant commitment to teaching and supervision of junior medical and nursing staff.
You will join a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive Sexual Health and HIV and Contraceptive care to clients attending the service. The post holder is expected to provide clinical services of a high standard as per the job description and job plan.
The post holder will work closely with the Clinical Lead for Sexual Health services and in providing senior clinical leadership through clinical governance and management support to the service. A focus of the post will be providing a senior leadership and management role in sexual health, contraceptive provision and safeguarding lead. Leadership roles will also include interactions with local sexual health commissioners.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
