A prominent NHS Trust in the UK is seeking a Consultant Radiologist to join its Imaging department. The ideal candidate will focus on Interventional Radiology and participate in general radiology duties. This role offers flexibility, including the potential for hybrid working arrangements. Applicants must hold a Medical Degree and FRCR along with full GMC registration.
Applications are invited for the above post for this 660 bedded acute hospital serving a local population of approximately 400,000. The appointment will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of service for the 2003 consultant contract (England).
This is an exciting time to join the Imaging department at Luton & Dunstable Hospital, which has now merged with Bedford Hospital to form the Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Imaging department has been rated excellent and well led by the CQC and an exemplar unit by GIRFT. Bedfordshire hospitals imaging department is a friendly and cohesive team offering a high quality patient centred service with a broad range of specialities across the two sites.
We are looking for a Consultant Radiologist with experience in all aspects of Interventional Radiology, to support the vascular and non‑vascular interventional work, primarily at Luton but with a view to cross‑site working in future, following the move of vascular service to Luton in 2026.
Participating in the general radiology workload is essential and participation in other MDTs is encouraged and subject to agreement with the clinical director during job planning.
The successful candidate will also participate in the on‑call rota.
Flexible working is supported by the Trust and all consultants are offered the opportunity to work from home on one day a week.

Applicants must be fully registered on the UK General Medical Council’s Specialist Register and have FRCR. Specialist Registrars may apply if within 6 months of CCT.
Residence is required within ten miles by road or thirty minutes travelling time of the Hospital. Candidates unable for personal reasons to work full‑time are also invited to apply.
The appointment will be subject to full Occupational Health Clearance and Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check for the successful candidates prior to commencement.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Applicants should note that the role may cross‑site between Luton and Bedford following the move of the vascular service to Luton in 2026. The allocation of programmed activities will be based on 8.5 for direct clinical care and 1.5 for supporting professional activities. The detailed job plans will be agreed in consultation with the Clinical Director and approved by the Medical Director or the Chief Executive.
The pattern of work may change in the future to meet local changing needs and annual review meetings will take place in line with the new Consultant Contract, job planning and appraisal arrangements.
