Are you an experienced and dedicated Paediatrician looking for your next rewarding role? We are seeking an accomplished professional to join our Community Paediatrics and Neurodisability Team as a part-time locum consultant.

You will be based at either Centenary House or Ryegate Children's Centre, with clinics at additional locations like Northern General Hospital and Sheffield Children's Hospital.

The Community Paediatric department includes 8 Consultants, 5 Specialty Doctors, and Community Paediatric Trainees (core & grid), providing a range of services for children and young people.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Clinical Director, Medicine Care Group, some of your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the children and young people with developmental difficulties, disabilities, and complex vulnerabilities such as ASD, and ADHD.
• You will have ongoing responsibility for patient care and department operations.
• You will provide out‑patient assessments and ongoing care to children and young people.
• You will work with a collaborative team, providing high‑quality care and support for children, young people, and their families.
• Contribute to high‑quality, family‑centred care within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
• Support the development and delivery of services for children with complex needs.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training Essential

• MRCP, MRCPCH by examination or equivalent
• Full registration with GMC with licence to practice
• Capable of working at Consultant level in Community Child Health

Desirable

• Relevant higher degree, e.g. MSc, MD, or other higher degree e.g. Sheffield Neurodisability MSc
• DCH, DCCH, MBA or other relevant diplomas
• CCT or equivalent in community paediatrics or paediatric neurodisability

Experience Essential

• Achieved competencies relating to General Paediatric training (typically via General Professional Training in Paediatrics).
• Demonstrated competencies equivalent to Higher Specialist Paediatric Training in Community Child Health.
• Experience of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working.
• Experience in the diagnosis and management of autism, ADHD and continence issues.

Desirable

• Experience in other areas relevant to Community Child Health, e.g. Paediatric Neurodisability.

Knowledge and Skills Essential

• Ability to work independently at consultant level
• Evidence of competence in and contribution to clinical audit and clinical governance
• Effective time management and administration skills
• Evidence of achievement of level 3 competencies in Community Child Health

Desirable

• Thorough understanding of clinical governance and risk
• Education qualification, specific training in education, supervision and/or appraisal
• Experience in teaching/training colleagues from other disciplines/agencies
