A prominent NHS health provider is looking for a full-time Locum Consultant to join their Emergency Medicine team in Basildon. The role involves supporting the development of emergency pathways, participating in a consultant on-call rota, and engaging in both clinical and non-clinical interests, including audit and research. The ideal candidate will have full GMC registration and relevant fellowship training in Emergency Medicine, along with a commitment to improving patient care and safety.
We are looking to recruit a full‑time Locum Consultant on a 1 year FTC to join our dynamic Emergency Medicine team at Basildon Hospital, as part of Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust (MSE), to support the development of adult and paediatric emergency pathways and services.
You will be based at Basildon Hospital within the A&E department with the opportunity to undertake some of the PA's (subject to agreement) at one of our sister hospitals (Southend Hospital or Broomfield Hospital).
As part of the agreed job plan, you will be expected to join a 15‑consultant on‑call rota and have a flexible approach to job planning to support service requirements. Our on‑site consultant cover is from 8am‑11pm weekdays and 9am‑10pm on weekends.
You will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of clinical practice that comes from working in a busy district general hospital, whilst developing your own special interest both clinically and non‑clinically including audit and research, and also be responsible along with your consultant colleagues in responding to the rapidly changing Emergency Care Agenda of the NHS.
You will be an established ED Consultant or a trained SPR looking for support through CCT. You will have full GMC registration or evidence of eligibility for full GMC registration, with appropriate/fellowship training in Emergency Medicine.
Your post offers a great opportunity to contribute to the innovative redesign of emergency services, with specific responsibilities within the development and redesign of paediatric emergency care services and is a strategic opportunity, ensuring excellence in quality, helping shape the future sustainability of clinical workforce across the region as part of the Essex Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP).
With a passion for patient care and safety, you will be able to demonstrate an understanding and awareness of clinical governance, with a desire to continually improve the patient experience.
