We are seeking a Locum Construction Solicitor based in the Midlands to support a major, high‑visibility industrial build. You'll be advising on supply chain contracts, NEC negotiation, and driving contract strategy at pace.

Our client is an industry leader, delivering one of the UK's most significant projects from the Midlands. Operating at national scale, the organisation is backed by substantial capital investment and works in collaboration with government, private sector and technical partners.

Description

The Locum Construction Solicitor will be:

  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on supply chain and subcontract contracts (especially NEC forms)
  • Advising on risk allocation, change control and compensation events
  • Providing legal support to procurement and commercial teams
  • Ensuring consistency and governance of contractual terms across suppliers
  • Reviewing supplier sub‑contracts, design/works interfaces, and collateral warranties
  • Managing contractual dispute avoidance and escalation as needed
  • Liaising with project leadership, commercial, procurement and technical leads
  • Monitoring contract compliance and advising on mitigation strategies
Profile

The Locum Construction Solicitor should be:

  • A solicitor (or equivalent) with at least 5+ PQE in construction / infrastructure
  • Experienced in negotiating NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4)
  • Comfortable working under pressure and delivering fast turnaround advice
  • Skilled in managing complex supply chain agreements
  • Commercially minded, with excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder skills
  • Able to work collaboratively and adapt within a project environment
Job Offer
  • Day rate: £450-£550/day
  • Contract term: 6 to 12 months, ASAP start
