Job description
Overview

Community Phlebotomist — Ellesmere Port, Part-time locum. Dream Medical are working with the NHS Trust and require a Band 2 phlebotomist to start ASAP for 2 months initially within the Ellesmere Port community team. The role will be from Wednesday to Friday and the session times are 09:00 – 17:00.

Responsibilities
  • Your role will be to obtain blood samples from patients in the community in accordance with local policies and procedures.
  • You will provide a safe blood collection service to patients in their own homes in accordance with infection control and governance guidelines adhering to lone worker policy.
  • You will obtain venous or capillary blood samples from patients in accordance with trust guidelines in patient\'s own homes and label and/or bar code specimen bottles accurately, then place samples into appropriately labelled bottles and suitably package for transport to the relevant laboratory.
  • You will conduct the procedure with proper regard to patient confidentiality and with an awareness of the patient\'s individual needs.
  • You will be expected to record appropriate information in identified documentation in accordance with local procedures and Trust requirements.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Community Phlebotomist experience
  • Certificate of competency for Venepuncture
  • Own Vehicle and driving licence
  • Proof of immuisations
  • References to cover last 3 years
